    Our Story

    More than two decades ago, brothers Vincent A. and Lawrence J. Benenati entered the orthotic field by starting East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp. in their home state of New York.  As the company grew, they saw a need for additional high-quality products to be produced.

    Span Link International, LLC (SLI) was incorporated in December 2009 for the purpose of manufacturing orthopedic products.  The company’s first signature product was the Apollo, a full-shell pneumatic walking boot which incorporates dual built-in air pumps into its shell.  Significantly, it was the world’s first walker to be made like this.  The walker was designed and patented by Vincent A. Benenati and is presently SLI’s flagship product, sold throughout the world under private label.

    Over the past decade after designing the Apollo, SLI has invested in the development and tooling for more than a dozen pneumatic and non-pneumatic walkers.  Additionally, SLI has developed many orthopedic braces for treating the ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, spine, and wrist.  SLI’s manufacturing operations are based in Vietnam and Thailand, and the company continues to invest in the expansion of its capabilities and capacity in these countries.

    The ability to develop new products, and a proven track record of providing high quality, low cost outsourced manufacturing, has driven SLI’s evolution into a global enterprise with customers around the world.  Our products are shipped by the container in large quantities to major companies throughout the world.  In addition to selling finished bracing products, the company also sells components of these products such as Injection Molded Plastic, Two Shot Injection, Metal Stamping, CNC as well as RF Welding.

    While Vincent A. Benenati continues to be the leader and face of the company, SLI has developed a strong team to support product development with an ever-growing engineering team, and expanding manufacturing capabilities.  SLI has also have built an excellent team to help manage sales, marketing, customer relations and logistics (see Meet Our Team section on this website for additional information about Span Link’s human resources).

    Vincent is the co-founder and CEO of Span Link International. Vincent is a certified orthotist who also founded East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp. with his brother Lawrence in 1997. This led to the incorporation of Span Link and several other international companies over the past decade.

    Lawrence J. Benenati

    Lawrence is co-founder and President of East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp., Span Link International, LLC and other LLCs. He continues to play a critical role in the daily internal operations of these companies. Larry is involved in strategic decisions, general management, facilities and staffing.

    Jack Benenati

    Jack worked as a patient care specialist and site manager for East Coast O&P before joining Span Link in 2010.  Jack serves as Director of Sales.  In addition to servicing assigned customers, Jack conducts business analytics and works with the Span Link team to assist with orders, logistics, and general communication.

    Vinny Benenati

    Vinny J. Benenati

    Vinny joins us from East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp., where he was Human Resources Manager and later Director of Corporate Communications from 2008 – 2020.  He serves in a similar capacity at Span Link, where we are excited to have him join our team. Vinny is a 2008 graduate from Seton Hall University, where he received a Bachelors of Arts in Communications.

    Director of Inside Sales

    Eric Chen

    Eric joined Span Link in 2018 as Director of Inside Sales after working at the Taiwan and Vietnam facilities for 5 years prior. Raised in the United States, Eric finished high school in Taiwan and then came back to the USA for college. Eric is a tremendous internal resource to customers and his co-workers, and also provides expert interpretation services when facilitating communication with Span Link’s manufacturing partners.

    Ahtsham Qazi

    Ahtsham Qazi has been with Span Link International LLC since its inception in 2009.

    He has been an integral part of the growth of the company. Qazi has worn different caps in various executive positions through his tenure. He currently serves as Director of Export and Import and works closely with CEO Vincent A. Benenati.

    Lou is Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer. Lou is a key to our growth and negotiates all contracts.  He brings three decades of experience coming from MetLife.

    Louis J. Ragusa, CPA

    Louis serves as Director of Finance, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller of Span Link International, LLC. In this role, he leads the company’s financial reporting, corporate accounting, and corporate internal controls functions.  As an integral part of Span Link since its formation, he was responsible for spearheading and implementing the entire financial and management information systems as well as financial and operational controls. 

    Prior to joining Span Link in 2013, Louis served as chief financial analyst and assistant controller of East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp., where he was responsible for overseeing accounting policies and procedures, financial reporting and budgetary oversight. He continues to serve as the Assistant Controller of East Coast.  Prior to joining East Coast, Louis worked for KPMG in their audit organization in NYC focusing on large bank clients, with an emphasis on financial management.

    Louis earned a BS and MS in accounting from Fordham University.  He is a certified public accountant registered in New York.

    Diogo Roquette Osorio

    Diogo is head of engineering and has 20 years of combined experience in the health care and medical device field.  Born and educated in Lisbon, Portugal, Diogo started his career as a physical therapist before attending engineering school to complete a second degree in biomedical engineering. Diogo has a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Therapy from Lisbon School of Health Technology and a  Bachelor’s / Master’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Instituto Superior Tecnico.
